Weston-Super-Mare & District League Division 4; Cheddar A 1, Berrow Reserves 2.
Cheddar A 1, Berrow Res 2

Ashley Catlow played and Andrew Walter was away which meant Berrow could bounce back from their first defeat with a win against 3rd placed cheddar on Saturday.
Berrow made 2 changes for this game with Ash replacing his brother Russell in midfield and young Ellis Harper, who was still on a high from his first team derby goal, coming in on the right.
Club captain Steve Puddy won the toss and went with the wind in the first half which saw Berrow take control. After a dull 20 mins, James Vickery set 23 year old Simon Baunton free down the right, he flew past the cheddar defense like ‘el Niño’ and put over a pinpoint cross to the steaming-in Barrett to slam his header back past the keeper into the far bottom corner for one nil. Another move off the training ground, praise should go to manager Raymond.
BFC were playing imaginative, expressive football with the lefties Bassi and Barrett causing havoc and Vickery chasing everything like a dog chasing a bus.
Harper was dealing out passes left right and centre, and it wasn’t long before he supplied young Baunton. A cracking pass found the legendary striker with time and space on the edge of the box. A first touch to die for was followed by a calm touch round the keeper and the third touch was goal. Surely this young whipper-snapper has a great future ahead of him, the first team will be knocking on his door before long and shirt sales of ‘Baunton 9’ will go through the club shop roof.
At half time a rousing team talk from Raymond (who has now won 2 out of 2 as manger this season) got the players up for a battling second half. He instructed the players to take on fluids, as most had water, 1 or 2 had some coke and Berrow took to the field as a team full of spirit and a hard work ethic.
Berrow could have gone 3 up straight away as Baunton beat 2 men and sent a 43 yard ball through to Vickery but the finish didn’t match the build up play. Catlow was pulling strings in the middle of the park and Harper was using all his speed to intimidate the cheddar defense.
The rock - Marshfield lead from the back as he again turned ball winner and was helped by Bassi, Puddy and Guyatt. The storm was being weathered so Raymond rested his worn legs to give CJ Organ a 30 min run out. This was the turning point in the game as cheddar stepped up their game, unfortunately for them George Panayi was in good form and pulled off 2 one on one saves (apparently) and made a great diving save to his right to keep the home side at bay, Guyatt, however had different plans. When a nothing ball into the box was going out for a goal kick, Danny Guyatt did a spinning bird kick and volleyed into the top corner to set up a barn-storming last 10. Curtis came on upfront while Baunton dropped to right wing, then right back when Guyatt was injured and he finally settled to centre back to keep cheddar out.
On the counter attack Berrow could have wrapped up the game but 2 great saves denied Curtis and Vickery.
In the post match interview Raymond said ‘we had everything today, from a legend like Puddy right to the future with 16 year olds Ellis and George. If we can put in hard work like that every game we’ll be in the mix up come May. I really like it when the players take things from the training ground onto the pitch, it shows all the hard work we put in teaching them is not wasted!!’
