Somerset County League Division 2 West; Berrow 1, Creech St Michael 0
Berrow left it late to overcome Creech last Saturday at Red Road, however it remains a mystery quite how this game was won by a solitary late Dave Keirle strike.

Berrows only change from the previous week was Gary Prowse being restored to the starting line up due to the unavailability of Simon Dawes, the home side were also only able to name 2 subs due to late withdrawals.

Berrow quickly picked up from where they left off the previous week, carving the visitors open at will almost with Luke McErlain and Jeff Read both going close to opening the scoring after good build up play with Keirle at the heart of it.

Berrow squandered further chances that appeared easier to score than miss and could have well been made to pay when Creech had Berrow camped in their own half as the weather conditions deteriorated and the wind made it almost impossible for the hosts to clear their lines, but Lismore, Prowse, Vickery and Dean stood firm and repelled the visitors advances, with only a wind assisted flick on from the keepers long kick hitting the bar being worthy of note.

Second half Berrow continued to probe Creech and when Read saw his well struck effort brilliantly saved, they could have been forgiven for thinking it just wasn’t going to be their day.

With time running out and the game seemingly heading for stalemate, a Berrow corner was half cleared to Dean who hooked the ball back into the danger zone to Prowse, who calmly controlled and advanced into the box to square for Keirle for a simple winner much to the relief of the Berrow dugout.

M-o-M – Dean and Lismore

Next up for Berrow is a trip to lowly Long Ashton.

Warner, Lismore, Prowse, Vickery, Dean, Eley (Vincent)(Shepherd), R.McErlain, L.McErlain, Read, Reddish, Keirle
