Somerset County League Division 2 West; Berrow 3, Wells City Reserves 0.
Berrow came into this game in fine form, dispatching of Portishead in the cup the previous week. Gary Prowse was pardoned because of a holiday and the team welcomed back Dave “Chipper” Keirle. Simon Dawes slotted into centre back position alongside the Italian Lloyd Dean.

Both teams struggled to make any real footballing impact in the first half. The Tsunami conditions made it impossible to create any footballing chances. Berrow, going against the 70mph winds really struggled to get a foot hold on the game. In reality, the team struggled to get out of their own half for much of the first 45. Great defensive play by the team proved vital, with the backline of Dean, Dawes, Lismore and Rellish doing exceptionally well. Somehow, with all the conditions going against them, Berrow took the lead late on in the first half. Great work from Lismore (Aka The “Chubby Funster”) resulted in a corner that was nodded home by Dax Vincent. This was purely proof that when your heart is pure, and you believe, anything really can happen.

The second half was a completely different affair, from Berrows point of view. The second goal came from a cross by Eley, a move that the tactical magician Louis Dean composed in the dressing room at half time. Berrow then grabbed their third. Chipper Kierle using a pensive approach to attack sat in the opposing teams half for a Chris Warner goal kick, knowing that the wind would carry the ball into that side of the pitch, controlled the ball and coolly chipped it pass the keeper. Chipper Kierle is fast becoming a name that is sticking with this young man who has been chipping goalkeepers week after week for all but twelve years now.

In poor conditions Berrow showed further courage and discipline to overcome tricky opposition. This was a significant result as Berrow moved to the top of league, a place that they will now like to stay. Dave Keirle picked up MOM after another strapping presentation in attack.

Warner, Reddish, Dean, Dawes, Lismore, Vincent (Vickery), Eley (Harper), R.McErlain, L.McErlain, Read, Keirle
