Weston Super Mare and District League Division 4; South Park Rangers 0, Berrow 2.
Berrow reserves returned to the summit of division 4 on Saturday with a hard fought win over an improved South Park side.

Berrow were hit by the loss of 4 regular players including key men, Simon Baunton (victim of the volcanic ash crisis), John Bassi (mysterious late withdrawal) and Phil Bute who failed to show at all.

With the early kick off they were able to call up first team subs Jack Shepherd and Steve Eley, with Dale Curtis and first team keeper Chris Warner named on the bench.

Berrow got off to a good start with James Vickery causing the home defence problems with his direct running, however all to often the balls being played to him were being over hit.

Berrow took the lead when Tom Marshfield’s ball from left back wasn’t dealt with properly by the home sides centre back, and Vickery nipped in to lift the ball over the advancing keeper.

The second goal quickly followed when a defender diverted Eley’s wicked left wing cross into his own net following good build up play from Berrow.

Berrow switched off after this and had their back four and keeper to thank for not allowing South Park back into the game.

Second half saw much of the same as the hosts pressed for a way back into the game, they had the ball in the back of the net twice, all be it illegally on both occasions.

Berrow held firm and substitutes Curtis and Warner had golden opportunities to seal the victory late on however they were failed to take their chances as Berrow eventually ran out winners.

Man of the Match was Grahame Dyer for a solid display in the centre of the park.

Panayi, Shepherd, Walter, Lambert, Marshfield, Harper, Dyer, Raymond, Eley, Sinclair (Warner), Vickery (Curtis)
