Somerset County League Division 2 Cup Final; Berrow 1, Purnell Sports 1 (AET 7-6 on pens)
BERROW FC made it a league and cup double after a triumphing in a nailbiting penalty shoot-out against Purnell Sports.

Berrow, who had already won the Division 2 West title, took on the Division 2 East runners-up in the Division 2 Cup final at Street on Tuesday.

Berrow were missing midfield maestro Luke McErlain, Goalkeeper Chris Warner and Alex Taylor who were all on holiday along with manager Louis Dean, and they fell behind after just ten minutes.

At half-time, Berrow trailed 1-0, but a rousing team talk from the stand in managerial team of Reserve boss Andrew Walter and Simon Baunton did the trick , as they poured forward after the break.

Their constant pressure eventually told when they were awarded a penalty when Scott Lismore was upended in the box, coolly converted by Dave Keirle.

An open game saw more chances for both sides, but the 90 minutes finished 1-1.

Berrow had some early chances in extra time, but began to tire and stand-in keeper, 17 year old, George Panayi, who was named man-of-the-match, made some good saves to ensure the game went to penalties.

After a dramatic shoot-out in which Panayi saved 3 of the Purnell spot kicks, Jeff Read, Jack Shepherd, Scott Lismore, Shaun Lismore, Wayne Barrett and Lloyd Dean all converted their spot kicks before Gary Prowse had the honour of scoring the winning the penalty that sent Berrow into raptures, to crown a fantastic season.

Panayi, Vickery, Prowse, Dean, Shaun Lismore, Reddish, McErlain, Read, Scott Lismore, Vincent, Keirle (subs) Lambert, Eley, Shepherd, Harper, Barrett
